Given the incomplete information made available by companies and the government, EWG provides additional information on personal care product ingredients from the published scientific literature. The chart below indicates that research studies have found that exposure to one or more ingredients in this product -- not the product itself -- caused the indicated health effect(s) in the studies reviewed by Skin Deep researchers. Actual health risks, if any, will vary based on the level of exposure to the ingredient and individual susceptibility -- information not available in Skin Deep.

Ingredients from packaging: NANO ZINC OXIDE; SHEA BUTTER; AVOCADO OIL; CARROT SEED OIL; BLACK CUMIN OIL; ESSENTIAL OIL BLEND; PURIFIED WATER; VEGETABLE GLYCERIN; VEGETABLE WAX ; ROSEMARY EXTRACT
Directions from packaging: Apply Solar Rx to the face neck and hands. Apply by placing a nominal amount to the palm of the hand. Spread onto the face and neck in smooth even strokes. As the sunblock nears body temperature, it will disappear into the skin. The nano zinc oxide is cosmetically clear once it is on skin.
Warnings from packaging: Keys Solar Rx is a cosmetic everyday moisturizing sunblock. Solar Rx is not intended for the beach, sports or swimming. It was developed and designed as a skin cancer prevention product for people with sensitive skin, skin disorders and post cancer recovery patients. Solar Rx is intended to be used with other sun protection products as a skin cancer prevention product for high risk individuals. We consider people a high risk where they have fair skin, can count more than 50 mole’s on their body and/or have a family history of skin cancer. Keys is a sun avoidance company. We comply with the new proposed FDA guidelines that support that sunscreens and sunblocks should be used in combination with SPF/UPF protective clothing, a UV rated big brim hat and UV protecting sunglasses. Solar Rx is for people who want to avoid damaging UV radiation for exposed skin like the face, neck and hands. We do not support using Solar Rx for sun bathing, sports, swimming or in lieu of protective clothing. Avoid any direct sun exposure from 10 AM to 4 PM especially in tropical climates where the published daily UV Index exceeds 6. When used in combination with SPF protective clothing, a UPF rated hat and UV protecting sunglasses, Solar Rx provides security for unprotected skin. Solar Rx reapplication is recommended at least every two hours in normal everyday situations. We have tested UV levels at noon in Washington DC where type two (T2) skin wearing SPF 30 sun protection can begin to burn in under 15 minutes. Solar Rx is a sunblock designed for use to prevent sun damage in everyday situations. It is not waterproof, designed for heavy exercise or direct sun exposure.
